Geological Profile
Mineral Group: Pyroxene

Common Sources:
Hypersthene is found in Canada, USA, Norway, India, Russia, and Greenland. Canadian Hypersthene is especially known for its high-quality metallic sheen.
Formation:
Hypersthene forms in igneous and metamorphic rocks, especially in environments rich in iron and magnesium. Its signature shimmer (sometimes called “velvet sheen”) comes from internal layers that reflect light in a soft, silky way — similar to Labradorite, but darker and more grounding in appearance.
Interesting Fact:
The name "Hypersthene" comes from Greek, meaning "over strength." Although the name is now technically outdated in mineral classification (reclassified as part of the orthopyroxene group), it’s still widely used in metaphysical circles.
Metaphysical Insight
Hypersthene is a stone of inner stillness, deep grounding, and quiet confidence. It is often used to calm mental chatter, shield from overwhelm, and help highly sensitive or intuitive people find their energetic centre.
