Common Sources:
Bumblebee Jasper is found exclusively in Indonesia, at the Mount Ciremai in West Java which is an active volcano. It is collected from volcanic fumarole zones, where high-temperature mineral-rich gases interact with surrounding rock.
Formation:
Unlike true Jasper (which is Quartz-based), Bumblebee Jasper is a sedimentary and volcanic mix of sulfur, calcite, and arsenic-bearing minerals formed in volcanic vents. Its vivid colour comes from sulfur (yellow), realgar (orange/red), and manganese oxides (black). The dramatic banding and swirls are natural results of mineral layering during formation.
