Geological Profile
Mineral Group: Carbonate
Chemical Formula: CaCO₃ (Calcium Carbonate)
Crystal System: Orthorhombic
Hardness: 3.5 – 4 (Mohs Scale)
Transparency: Opaque to translucent
Colour: Soft sky blue to turquoise; sometimes with white or tan veining or calcite inclusions
Common Sources:
Blue Aragonite is most commonly sourced from Pakistan, China, and Namibia. The vibrant sky-blue material currently popular in the market is largely from deposits in Pakistan, sometimes confused with Caribbean Calcite (a mix of Blue Aragonite and white Calcite).
Formation:
Aragonite forms in low-temperature hydrothermal environments and caves, often near the surface of the earth. Blue Aragonite gets its distinctive colour from copper traces during its formation. It typically forms in fibrous masses or layered deposits and is usually cut and polished for commercial use.
Interesting Fact:
Although chemically identical to Calcite, Aragonite forms under different pressure and temperature conditions and has a distinct crystal structure. Over long periods, Aragonite may transform into Calcite, making it a fascinating and transitional mineral.

Raw Blue Aragonite:
Often more fragile and fibrous, raw Blue Aragonite carries a softer, more open energy ideal for gentle healing work. -
Polished Blue Aragonite:
Used in palm stones, spheres, and carvings for calming rituals or display, with a smoother, nurturing energy.
